About MeAarrestad’s works compellingly skirt familiar images of popular culture, but there are no clues to help us interpret them. Perceiving this nostalgic image through the cynical lens of the present, its meaning is further complicated and opened up, especially with the new, added context of the potentially threatening title and the unknown speaker: is the young girl being threatened? Or is it her who utters the threat?

Even though you might immediately think of Alice in Wonderland, Aarrestad explains that this work “could be linked to any number of European fairy-tale girls who strangely all tend to have long blond hair”.
