About MeCarte de visite of a couple; the man is standing while the woman is seated. She is wearing a dress with a dark textured coat buttoned all the way up and large bonnet with a frill that is tied up underneath her chin in a large bow. Her left arm is resting on a side table next to some books and there is a curtain draped behind her.
The man is standing with his left hand on the woman's back, there is a hat in his right hand. He has a beard and side burns and is wearing a waistcoat, trousers and jacket with a necktie and white shirt. On the reverse the photographer's details appear in full.
