About MeCarte de visite of a woman sitting in a plush chair next to a table with a potted plant on it and a hanging curtain to the left. Her hair is parted in the middle and is smooth. She is weaing a dark coloured lace cap with a chin length veil, there are lighter coloured flowers of varying sizes sewn onto the cap at each side of her face. She is wearing a full skirted gown in a lustrous fabric, possibly taffeta. The bishops sleeves are trimmed with a dark braid down the length and white lace at the cuffs. At her throat there is white lace and a rectangular brooch. There are five beaded rossettes running down the front of her bodice. The is wearing a wedding ring. On her lap is a book, there is no title visible. She is looking off to the right side of the frame. Photographer's full print details can be seen on reverse side. c.1860s
