About MeCarte de visite of Miss Gordon standing next to a table holding an open book. To the left of the image there is a draped curtain and a chair. She is wearing a dark dress with a full bustle. skirt and small leg of mutton sleeves. She has a white collar and there are ruffles down the length of the sleeves and at the hem of the skirt. Her hair is up in a low bun with a middle parting. She is wearing earrings and a long beaded necklace.
On the reverse the photographer's details appear in full along with a hand-written inscription in ink: 'Miss Gordon.'
