About MeAn Aberdeen bride wore this powder blue polyester satin and machine-embroidered, knee-length wedding dress to her wedding at North Church, Aberdeen, in 1962.
The short evening dress became both fashionable and popular in the 1950s, and brides often recreated this style for their wedding dresses. This example, although from 1962, is based on the short wedding dresses of the 1950s, which were shapely and worn over short wide petticoats. The shape of yokes became more adventurous, and wedding dresses could have plain round or slightly v-shaped, almost off-the-shoulder, necklines, like the one in this dress.
