About MeThis jug-shaped clay pot is formed from three parts: the body of the pot, a circular base and a pulled handle on one side near the top. The pot has a fluted neck and a lip around the rim. Covering the surface of the pot are numerous white, fossil-like sea creatures, which bespeaks the particular provenance of this pot: it was found in the nets of a local fisherman around fifteen miles off the coast of Aberdeen. The pot is Roman, made in the second or third century A.D. in Southern Britain or the Rhineland.20th Century
