About MeHead and torso carte de visite of a man named George Sangster he is wearing a full matching suit with a white shirt and necktie, he also has a beard and sideburns. His hands are clasped in front of him. On reverse side is photographer's print and a hand-written note in ink: 'George Sangster/ (illegible...) / 34 St. Clair Street/ Aberdeen, c. early 1880s.Inscribed underneath the photograph "A. ADAMS PHOTO ABERDEEN" and printed on the reverse" ESTABLISHED 1853 // [coat of arms] // A.ADAMS // PHOTOGRAPHER, // 26 Broad St. // Principal Entrance 32 Queen St. // ABERDEEN. // COPIES MAY BE HAD // The Negative of this carte can be enlarged / to life size and coloured in Oil if desired."
This is overwritten in black ink "George Sangster // [illegible words] // 34 St Clair St // Aberdeen".
Part of a time capsule recovered from tenement block at 34 St Clair Street during its demolition in October 1986. The capsule was seemingly created by George Sangster, founder of the Bon-Accord Pneumatic Tool Co.
