At the time of the issue of the token in 1854 the minister was The Rev. Alexander Allan, a local man from nearby Newhills, who had been a schoolmaster before entering the ministry. Fintray church, still in use today, is situated in an attractive wooded location just outside Hatton of Fintray village.
