About MeTobias Møhl trained at Holmegaard Glasvaerk, the leading glassworks in Denmark, and became a Master Glass Blower in 1992 following a three year apprenticeship. He has also studied in the United States and at Edinburgh College of Art. Early in his career he met the renowned glass artist Lino Tagliapietra who was to become a seminal influence, particularly by introducing him to a diverse range of Venetian glass-making techniques. Møhl belongs to the important generation of Danish glass artists who achieved international recognition in the 1990s and are particularly notable for technical innovation. His work is about using Venetian techniques in a Scandinavian way. The techniques employed for this piece, incalmo and canework, are very demanding.

Platter was selected at Art Fund Collect in 2012 and both the Art Fund and National Fund for Acquisitions have contributed to this purchase. This acquisition contributes to our ambition to develop our collection of contemporary glass and also to collect work by Scandinavian makers, strengthening cultural ties between countries in the North.
