About MeLetter from James McBey to Mr. Young dated 15 December 1957, related to McBey's nationality. In the letter McBey explains that, having been an American citizen from August 1942 and therefore no longer a "British Subject," he would like to have on record that he intended to remain an American citizen and had no intention of ever returning to live in the United Kingdom. McBey also explained:

"I have definitely abandoned my domicile of origin to a residence in Tangier, Morocco with an American Nationality, so that my estate after death will be administered under American law."

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
