"I'm glad you have at last got rid of the caretaker, fancy her trying to make pastry, I don't think I should relish anything made by her."
Wynne explains that she didn't expect McBey to come to Bournemouth, but tells him that she would be travelling to London soon, as her father was coming home. Her struggles to find affortable stair carpets and a dinner service are then detailed, and she asks McBey how he is gettng on with the painting of Jerusalem. Wynne also talks about Mark Hanbourg, who she describes as a wonderful musician that reminds her of McBey, but explains, "only he isn't half as nice, he is getting horribly fat."
Wynee also complains that she has no one to kiss, stating "I do hope Mae, you haven't been off, don't tell me if you have, it would make me sad." At the end of the letter she talks about having to get rid of her sunburn, which she thought would take about a fortnight to wear off.
This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
