About MeLetter to James McBey from Converse Hettinger, Vice Consul of the American Legation, dated 19 September 1949. Hettinger alerts McBey of the possible retraction of his United States citizenship, because McBey was now believed to be "residing in Tangier." Section 338. (c) of the "Nationality Act of 1940" is copied at the bottom of the letter to draw McBey's attention to potentially relevant clauses.

The letter consists of one sheet typewritten on headed paper.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
