About MeLetter from James McBey to Converse Hettinger, Vice Consul of the American Legation, dated 3 October 1949. In the letter McBey has a series of queries surrounding the definition of a "U.S Resident" because, while McBey had been living in Tangier for three years, his legal residence was still 11 Macdougal Alley, New York.

McBey also queries whether notes would be sufficient evidence of his travelling in and out of America if he were to lose his passport.

The letter consists of one sheet typewritten on headed paper.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
