About MeUnited States of America passport number 42 issued to James McBey on 21 February 1950. It is full of stamps from McBey's numerous trips to Morocco and back to the United Kingdom, and the bottom right corner is cut to indicate that it is no longer valid. On the inside cover McBey details Herbert Paton or H. H. Kynett as his emergency contacts, notes 6417 Wissahickton Avenue, Philadeliphia, PA as his U.S address, and El Foolk, Tangier as his foreign residence. Originally 11 Macdougal Alley was noted as the U.S. address, but this has been scored out and replaced with the details above.
This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this passport.
