''Dear Sir
We try to acknowledge you letter of Oct. 11th, addressed to Mr. Mayer, with reference to the letter Mr. McBey addressed to him, dated Sept 19th, which was duly received here, and contained Mr. McBey's request for our acceptance of his proposition that we should agree to cede him 566 of his etchings (together with our half-share interest in the few we hold jointly with Mr. Charles Sessler of Philadelphia) in settlement of the sum we owe Mr. McBey, in which case Mr. McBey desired that we would hand over these 566 etchings to you, on his behalf.
We beg to say that we have cabled to Mr. McBey our acceptance of this solution, and that we are accordingly proceeding to bring away these prints from store (where they had been put, meantime, for safety, pending Mr. McBey's consideration of our propositions regarding them, to which his letter just received, is the reply) and that as soon as we have checked everything, we shall communicate with you again, and arrange with you final details as the handing over. By that time, no doubt, you will be the best procedure to adopt the actual handing over, etc, and we shall be glad to follow with any arrangements as to that, which you (or he, on your behalf) may propose.''
Hand-written on both sides on folded paper.
