Type 2/3 almost complete left sole, possibly with matching fragments of rand and upper [15 additional fragments]. Long seat, narrowing for waist, and gently curved forepart, inner edge fairly straight, outer edge inclined inwards, narrowing to an oval toe, inwards of centre. Edge-flesh stitching channel, stitch length 5-6mm. Tunnel stitch holes which penetrate to flesh side, for attachment of clump soles to seat and to front of forepart. Confusion of stitch holes at rear of seat suggests that seat may have been repaired twice. Worn and almost completely delaminated. Only small parts of grain surface survive. Particularly worn at rear of seat, part of which is missing. L (surviving) = 230mm. Max W of forepart = 86mm. W of waist = 49mm. Max W of seat = 70mm. T = c 0.5 mm (delaminated), comprising vamp, with vamp wing and possibly part of quarters. Lasting margin with grain-flesh stitching channel, stitch length 2.5mm, on small, triangular forepart, one edge-flesh stitching channel of which might join vamp wing. Several foreparts of lasting margin also survive separately. Exceedingly worn. Goatskin. Two very worn fragments. Stitch length 5-6mm. Cattlehide.
