Small, approximately trapezoidal fragment of upper, with one edge flesh stitching channel, stitch length 2mm. Near one end of this edge, there are three thong holes, threaded through which is a thong, ending in a toggle. Thong holes are c 2 x 3mm. Four thong or lace holes adjacent to the other long edge, which has possibly been oversewn. Thong holes are c 3 x 1mm, and are 19, 14 and 18mm apart. Leather between two of the holes and the edge hole has cracked. No trace of stitching for a facing or tie-hole strengthener. Possibly PSH Type C or D, more probably C - leg of boot. Reason for thong and thong holes next to edge flesh stitching channel not clear. Thong has been threaded through holes and round edge, and was obviously threaded through adjoining fragment. Stitching channel is in good condition, but it is possible that an adjoining fragment was not, so this might have been a repair. L = 85mm, W = 30-50mm, T = 1mm.

In addition, there are three larger fragments of thin leather. Two are irregularly shaped four-sided, both roughly the same size, one more worn. The other piece is an irregularly shaped rectangle with a worn, torn bottom edge and straight edge at top and side. It is connected (small connection) at one corner to an L-shaped strip.
