Two fragments of Type 2/3 sole, comprising broad seat, narrower waist and gently curved forepart, ending in narrow oval toe, almost pointed. Sole is distorted by wear, probably left foot; forepart is not inclined inwards, but narrowness of toe more akin to Type 3. Edge-flesh stitching channel stitch length 6mm, diameter of holes c 2.5mm. Tunnel stitch holes which penetrate through to flesh side indicate that forepart was repaired with a clump sole. Worn and slightly delaminated. Large hole in centre forepart now divides sole in two fragments; smaller hole towards front of forepart. Large hole in outer portion of seat. L= 280mm; Max width of forepart = 107mm; width of waist = 66mm. Cattlehide.

There are also two pieces of irregularly shaped leather, one with a tear just off centre approx. length 27mm. Another has stitching holes in it approx. 10mm apart at one end and a stitching channel at the narrow tip. There is also a thin strip narrowing to a tip, length 112mm (tip to tip).
