About MeBy 1966 Elizabeth Blackadder had come very close to pure abstraction although in this work the objects are still recognisable. The table rests on an oriental rug and is seen from bird's-eye view so the scene appears two-dimensional. On the table are swatches of cloth, a lemon on a plate and two brightly decorated Easter eggs.

There is a richness and intensity of colour which, coupled with her ambiguous sense of perspective, recalls the work of early 20th century artists such as Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard.
