About MeSince the hundred-pound notes were the highest in value and thus the most prestigious notes issued by the North Bank they were provided with particularly attractive colour schemes. The brown and sage green of the 1909 version is now superseded by a very different but equally appealing purple on pink ground. The illustration depicting the University of Aberdeen's King's College building is common to all denominations in the new series.

A completely new series of notes engraved by Thomas de la Rue and Company for the North of Scotland Bank was first issued in 1939. The £100 note is the highest denomination.
