About MeIn 1874, Farquharson, along with the Montrose born artist George Paul Chalmers, travelled to the Netherlands where they visited Josef Israels. Israels had visited Aberdeen in 1870 and was much admired by both Scottish artists and collectors at this time. Both Chalmers and Farquharson were influenced by a favourite subject of the Hague School; the depiction of cottage interiors with figures. Like Dutch interiors, Farquharson has concentrated on the effects of light on the furnishings of this shadowy interior.
