About MeCarte de visite of an elderly man seated next to a small, ornate side table with a book on top. He has white receding hair, side burns and is wearing a long dark coat with matching waistcoat, trousers and dark polished shows. His shirt collar is white and upturned revealing a black necktie. Both his hands are resting in his lap; in his left hand he is holding a book. On the reverse the photographer's details appear in full.
