About MeThis satin wedding dress was worn by Mary Nicholl Barron in Aberdeen when she married solicitor Adam Laing. Initially living in Aberdeen, the couple moved to Edinburgh, and then Hawick, following their marriage in 1899. They returned to Aberdeen after World War Two.

This two-piece cream wedding dress has a tight fitting bodice with deep square neckline. The yoke and tight narrow sleeves are made of ruched gauze. The satin is gathered at the centre front just below the neckline and there's pleated gauze over the waistband. The yoke and small cap sleeves are decorated with pearlised beads and small white beads. The bodice is boned and is lined with cream corded silk. The skirt is A-line with a slight gathering at the centre back. The cream satin is supported by calico and cream silk lining.
