About MeThis portrait of Elizabeth Crombie Duthie depicts Miss Duthie just a few years after she gifted Duthie Park to the City of Aberdeen in 1881. Miss Duthie wanted to create a public park in memory of her uncle Walter and brother Alexander Duthie. She purchased the estate of Arthurseat by the banks of the River Dee for £30,000.Miss Duthie was a member of the wealthy shipping family and never married. The portrait was donated to the city as a mark of the population's esteem for their generous benefactor and was exhibited soon afterwards by the Aberdeen Artists' Society. Recent conservation of this painting was funded by 'Duthie Park 125'.
