- Working Model for Draped Seated Woman: Figure on Steps
Moore always used his material to express natural forms, but was willing to distort the appearance of objects in the interest of design and emotional expressiveness. In this work, the head is tiny in comparison with the rest of the body. The features are quite anonymous but what remains of the eyes, nose and forehead still retain human expression.
More About Me
A monumental version of this piece can be seen at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield, where artistic works combine with the beauty of the natural world (including lots of sheep!).
