About MeA completely new set of notes engraved by Thomas de la Rue and Company for the North of Scotland Bank was first issued in 1939. All the large denominations (the £5, £20 and £100) were printed at a reduced size compared with their predecessors of the 1909 series. New colours were chosen also, the £5 appearing in a bold red. This was the last series of notes to be issued by an Aberdeen-based bank.
