About MeExcavations at the site of the Carmelite friary in Aberdeen took place in 1980-1 and 1994. Much of the west end of the friary church and the west range of the cloister were excavated. Materials used in the construction of these buildings were discovered.
These unglazed roof tiles were probably made near the Carmelite friary site, possibly even on the site itself. Medieval roof tiles were made in two forms - peg or pantiles. Peg tiles had 1 or 2 holes for insertion of pegs, for suspension on a roof.
