About MeDavid Carry was born in 1981 into a family that has both Scottish and Faroese roots. He attended Robert Gordons and later Loughborough University. He represented Scotland between 2002 and 2010 at the Commonwealth Games winning two gold medals in the 2006 Games in the 400m Freestyle and Individual Medley events.

He has represented Team GB in 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games reaching the finals. Carry retired from competitive swimming in 2012 becoming a performance director for a sports management company. He also is a motivational speaker and business coach.

He is married to Keri-Anne Payne who is also a competitive swimmer. They now live in Edinburgh.
