About MeElspit Wilson (Kintore 1874 - Edinburgh 1966) wore this dress at her wedding to Alexander Taylor Nicholl (Arbuthnott, 1869 - Edinburgh 1952). The ceremony took place on 25th February 1914 at 10 Lowther Terrace, Glasgow. The bride is thought to have served as a Lady's Maid in this property to Mrs Cargill. Mr John Traill Cargill was later created a baronet of Glasgow. This cream satin and embroidered net lace wedding dress comprises bodice, skirt and detachable peplum style apron. The cream taffeta bodice is boned and has a silk petersham band at the waist with a white metal buckle. There is a small covered hook at the centre back of the waistband for attaching to the skirt.
More About Me
Lots of different types of materials were all used to make this wedding dress. Hopefully the bride appreciated the effort!
