About MeCorrespondence from James McBey to Marguerite McBey, dated 10 August 1932. James writes that he hopes to have a place on the boat from Dover to Calais, roughly around the dates of the 5 and 6 September. He is writing to Marguerite here as the A.A. have asked if he would be willing to leave on 30 August, so he could claim a "rebate" for the whole of the month of September on his "British car tax".

It seems as though McBey wants to co-ordinate with Marguerite as to the date of her mother, Hortense, is arriving, so he can make appropriate arrangement with the A.A.

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
