He addresses the letter to "Sweetiepye", and writes how there is a "big tennis party", which means he is unable to talk to a "Frank Burnett" (alternative arrangements have been made for dinner later on in the week). He notes that if he takes a while with "Joey's" portrait, he may not stay with the Burnetts but go "straight up to Aberdeen via Dundee". Regarding Joey's portrait, he states that he has changed the pose, which is apparently "better", and the previous afternoon he transferred the drawing to canvas (with a view to paint the following day).
He also discusses Tangier, regarding a visit from a "Pat" in August, and how Marguerite's previous letter regarding this visit did not make sense (and if Marguerite made a mistake and meant July).
He writes that he has been out every evening.
This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
