About MeLove letter, from a woman who identifies herself as "Maisee", to James McBey in an envelope postmarked 23 July 1928. In the letter "Maisee" explains that she is having a peaceful afternoon, because the others were away and she had told the maid to go home. Despite this though, she says she is "restless" and repeatedly explains how she longs to see McBey, and loves him dearly, through statements such as, "When I am with I am so happy that I cannot believe it is real", and "Hold me close, close like you did two Fridays ago." She then ends the letter by begging him to come to her now and stating, "All I want is to kiss you eyes from mouth, I love you, M."

A sub note at the end says that "Maisee" will await McBey's phone call, but also apologies for the main content of the letter as she writes, "I am afraid this has turned frightfully dirty."

This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
