Fay continues by complaining that the increase in income tax to 5p in the pound and the terrible climate has brought her to the decision to leave for London for good "about September next" to make a home in South Africa. She feels the climate is good there and income tax is low, but asks McBey if he knows the country.
At the end of the letter Fay tells McBey how much she would love to see both himself and Marguerite again, and invites them along for a sherry on Friday 28th between 6 and 7. Fay also mentions that she hopes they had not been worried by the "Spanish business" which seemed to be getting worse.
This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this letter.
