About MeLara Scobie uses fine porcelain parian clay which is a ceramic material developed to cast that was popular in the Victorian times. Her making process combines both simplicity and intricacy. She uses a relatively simple slip cast method, pouring liquid clay into plaster moulds which she then individually shapes before applying her intricate patterns and drawings on the surface.
She hand polishes the surfaces of her vessels to bring the surface up to a matt satin.
