About MeThis tokkuri with shino glaze is used to serve sake which is Japanese rice wine. It is part of a sake set with the sake cups ABDMS095708.446.
Shino glaze was developed in Japan during the 16th century. It is composed primarily of feldspar which is a rock-forming mineral consisting of aluminosilicates of potassium, sodium, and calcium.
Lisa Hammond is based at her Maze Hill Pottery in Greenwich, where she makes a range of thrown functional pots mainly for the preparation and serving of food and beverages. She has spent time working and exhibiting in Japan and is well-known for her pioneering use of shino glazes.
