About MeThis oil or vinegar pourer is made from Fremington clay, which is found close to Clive Bowen's North Devon pottery.
It was thrown on a wheel, wood-fired and then decorated in the tradition of English slipware using a palette of yellow ochres, orange and black. It is decorated with five bands of black slip around the foot and a freehand design of trailed green slip and iron slip on the body.
Bowen built his own wood-fired kilns for the production of domestic earthenwares at his North Devon pottery in the 1970s. He makes a wide selection of useful pieces for the preparation, cooking and serving of food ranging from giant store jars to everyday pots and dishes.
