About MeHand thrown stoneware bowl which stands on a short unglazed foot.
Jim Malone has chosen two different glazing techniques to decorate the bowl. The interior is glazed in a Chun glaze, an opalescent glaze with a blueish tinge which originated in China. For the exterior he has chosen a light grey-green wood ash glaze which has been applied over an impressed pattern similar to snakeskin. When fired at a high temperature the wood ash glaze achieves a rich mottled colour
