About MeThis dress was worn to a wedding held at Middlefield Parish Church, Aberdeen, on the 28th of September 1983. The reception was at the Cloverleaf Hotel.Although the dress was made in the 1980s, it still features romantic and historical fashion styles that became popular during the 1970s, like the puffed sleeves, the long train and the use of lace and embroidery as decorative items.
This ivory nylon and polyester wedding dress comprising a layer of ribbed nylon chiffon over a layer of nylon organza, over a white polyester tulle underdress. The dress features an empire-line bust, a high neck with a roll-over collar and long, double-layered sleeves that are puffed at the ends. The dress is decorated with machine-embroidered flowers.
The bride’s shoes and veil, as well as photographs of the wedding day and the bridesmaid’s pink nylon dress, are held within the collection.
