About MeEardley first discovered Catterline when recovering from an illness during a visit to Aberdeen, where she had an exhibition of her work, in 1951. The small village became a new stimulus from which she could capture the immensities of nature in the open air.

This work illustrates the freedom of brushwork and expressive energy with which Eardley conceived and captured the character of the coastal landscape. The viewer can almost smell the salt spray as the waves come crashing to the shore.

More About Me
It’s been said that Eardley, "...painted with the perception of a mariner aware that waves are heavy, fast moving lumps of water as able to kill as support".
