About MeThis silk wedding dress is thought to have been worn by Elizabeth Scott (1805-1837). She married James Anderson, a farmer from Rhynie in Aberdeenshire, on the 6th of October 1827.The sleeves are loose at the elbow which emphasises the sloping shoulder silhouette. The long skirt is gathered in at the waist of the tight-fitting bodice, highlighting the small waist. Many women wore coloured dresses to their marriage ceremony, which they continued to wear for special occasions long after the event.
