About MeThis sampler has been stitched in turquoise cotton thread on punched paper then attached to card.
It was made by Elizabeth Garrow aged 67 years in 1886
The sampler has a religious and moral verse stitched in cross stitch with the title Contentment:
I envy no one's birth or fame,
Their title, train or dress:
Nor has my pride e'er strech'd
Its aim, beyond what I possess.
I ask not, wish not, to appear
More beauteous, rich or gay:
Lord make me wiser every year.
And better every day.
