About MeThis traditional Bavarian 'dirndl'-style dress was worn by an Aberdonian bride at her wedding to a German sea-captain. The wedding took place on the 19th of May 1978 at Greyfriars Church in Aberdeen.

The couple decided to arrange a half-Scottish, half-German wedding and the bride chose to wear a traditional Bavarian dress in honour of her husband's native land. The choice of blue and golden colours refers to the colours of the ocean. The drastic changes in fashion during the 1970s made bridal fashion more adventurous, and although some brides clung to traditional styles, others chose to wear items that defined their personality, as was the case with this Scottish bride marrying into a German family.
