About MeThis wedding dress was first worn by a Dundee bride on her marriage to her husband, who came from Peterhead. The couple settled in Aberdeen in the late 1930s. Although this dress started life as a wedding gown, it was later remodelled into an evening dress. The cape that it features now was made from the original dress' train. As glamorous fabrics in the post-Depression era could be scarce, brides were often creative in remodelling their wedding outfits into evening dresses. Influences from the film world are apparent; the full-length and eye-catching materials create a statement look.
