About MeAround 1902 Peploe was working in Comrie, Perthshire, where his sister and her husband lived. It provided a large number of painting opportunities and painting outside, Peploe developed a style similar to the French Impressionists. He would have seen their works at first hand whilst in France during the mid-1890s.

In style and subject matter, Street in Comrie recalls the works of Impressionists such as Monet, Sisley and Pissarro. The bright light streaks the country road a light yellow and illuminates the greenery of the trees and grass while the houses cast blue shadows onto the road.

More About Me
Rather like a French Impressionist painting, but the familiar architecture gives it away as Scottish.
