About MeEgg container moulded to represent a hen sitting on a basket. Made at Bo'ness, Linlithgow around 1870. These egg containers were very popular in farmhouses throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

Eggs were stored at room temperature before the days of fridges. Some would argue they still should be.
