About MeThis colander is made from Fremington clay, a local material from which Clive Bowen makes most of his work at his North Devon Pottery. Bowen built his own wood-fired kilns for the production of domestic earthenwares and makes a wide selection of items for the preparation, cooking and serving of food ranging from giant store jars to everyday pots and dishes.
It is glazed all over in a yellow ochre slip (liquid clay) with brown slip banding around the foot, repeated below the rim and also as wavy ribbons around the rim and upper face of the handles.
