About MeClara Klinghoffer was a gifted young artist with a great natural talent. She studied at the Slade School in London and had her first exhibition at the age of nineteen. Critics particularly admired the "Old Masterly" quality of her drawings. Her paintings, mainly portraits or figure groups, employ a soft, impressionistic style. Clara used her six sisters as models for her work and in a letter that she wrote to Aberdeen Art Gallery in 1937 she identified this sitter as her sister Rachel.
More About Me
Are you curious about why the sitter's name was not included in the artwork's title? She was not just any girl but was one of the artist’s six sisters, Rachel.
