About MePorcelain small lidded jar and cover which are both glazed in a pale blue-green celadon with a band of grey-green tenmoku around the outer rim edge of the jar.Chris Keenan frequently works with celadon and tenmoku glazes in combination to create contrasting colours, surface patterns or to enhance the shape of the piece.
Celadon is a type of glaze which originated in China and spread to other parts of East Asia. Iron oxide is added to create shades of pale green and blue and with the addition of a greater amount of iron oxide, in colours as dark as olive green and black.
