About MePorcelain ribbed and squashed jar, initially thrown on the potter's wheel and then manipulated by Carina Ciscato before the clay dried. She used her fingers make indentations in the side of the jar creating an interesting shape. The almost flat circular cover is flush-fitting within the jar's recessed rim. Both the jar and lid are glazed in a pale green celadon, a type of glaze which originated in ancient China.
Ciscato is a Brazilian potter from Sao Paulo now based in south London. Her thrown vessels are frequently altered and re-assembled, creating distorted, yet fluid, shapes.
