About MePorcelain small ovoid flask which tapers to a short neck. Two pierced holes in the neck hold a short pale green ribbon to suspend the flask. It is glazed all over in pale green celadon and decorated with three splashes of greenish brown tenmoku glaze arranged vertically and centred down opposite sides of the body.
Chris Keenan frequently works with a combination of celadon and tenmoku glazes, with tenmoku applied to enhance the shape or, as in this example, to create a subtle pattern.
Celadon is a type of glaze which originated in China. It is frequently found in shades of pale green, however colours can range from pale pearl blue to dark olive green depending on the quantity of iron oxide added to the glaze before it is fired.
Tenmoku glaze is generally treacle-brown or lustrous black in colour.
